Al Ettifaq Coach Praises Nkota On Return

Al-Ettifaq Club head coach Saad Al-Shehri has praised Mohau Nkota after his return to the starting line-up during their 3-2 win over high-flying Al Qadsiah.

Nkota, 21, has endured a rough patch at his club amidst speculation of a potential transfer at the end of the season, after falling out of favour.

Having scored two goals, with two assists in his opening nine league games before the Africa Cup of Nations, his fortunes changed dramatically after his return, playing out of position as a wing-back on several occasions and then being left out of the matchday squad five times in the next seven games before his surprise start this weekend.

Having played 88 minutes, it wasn’t a match that will live long in the memory on personal level for the former Orlando Pirates star, despite the impressive win over one of the most in-form teams in the league but Al-Shehri was happy with the contribution.

“The most important thing is that we secured three points, Khaled Al-Ghannam’s strength lies on the left side, and he delivered an excellent performance, while Nkota also did a great job defensively on the right side,” he said.

“All the technical choices were successful, and the players executed them well. We want to continue with this spirit and achieve more victories and finish the league in the best possible position.”

Ettifaq are currently seventh in the 18-team division of the Saudi Pro League, 28 points behind league leaders Al Nassr with seven league games remaining.
