Jali Opens Up On His Relationship With Manyisa

Retired former Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali has opened up about his partnership with Oupa Manyisa saying their brotherhood went beyond the pitch.

The pair marshalled the Pirates midfield between 2009 and 2014 together helping the side to win six major trophies, including the double treble and in also the CAF Champions League campaign in 2013 where the Buccaneers reached the final.

Jali spoke on the Arena Sports Show on a variety of matters including his partnership with Manyisa. He said he believes former coach Ruud Krol saw the players’ different personalities and knew how to merge them to work.

Jail added that being close on and off the pitch was beneficial for work as well.

“I think it’s because of the different characters that we had,” said Jali.

“The kind of person Oupa is and the kind of person I am I think Krol took that thing to say I can build something from these two. Maybe he saw something and thought he could bring out something that’s how everything started. Some things you don’t plan.

“The brotherhood must not be a brotherhood on the pitch only even outside it must still be brotherhood to say we must understand each other’s needs. I should be able to tell when you are not alright because also you can’t play football when you are not happy.

“You will never. You cannot play football while holding a grudge, or angry because you’ll be wanting to show people you can do better than someone. You should be saying I’m going to show people who I am not I’m better than someone.”
