South African winger Luther Singh delivered an impressive performance for AEL Limassol in Cyprus, while in Belgium, Cassius Mailula’s side celebrated a major milestone by securing promotion to the top-flight.
Singh got his name on the scoresheet as AEL Limassol claimed a 2-1 victory over Paralimni in a Cyprus League encounter. His compatriot Thapelo Maseko also featured in the match, coming on and playing 27 minutes as the team held on for the win.
Elsewhere in Cyprus, Mihlali Mayambela was named among the substitutes but did not see action as Omonia recorded a 2-0 home victory over rivals Apoel.
In Belgium, Mailula’s Kortrijk sealed their promotion to the top division after finishing second in the league standings behind Beveren. However, Mailula was not part of the matchday squad as his side still secured a convincing 3-1 win over RWDM Brussels on Friday to confirm their elevation.
In another Belgian fixture, Shandre Campbell remained on the bench as Club Brugge suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Over in England, Lyle Foster was introduced off the bench and played 27 minutes, but could not prevent Burnley from falling to a heavy 4-1 loss against Nottingham Forest in Premier League action.
In Austria, Yusuf Maart put in a full 90-minute shift for Ried as they played out a 1-1 draw with Grazer AK, while fellow South African Antonio van Wyk featured prominently, logging 88 minutes in the same match.
Germany saw Ime Okon complete the entire match for Hannover 96, who battled to a 1-1 draw against Paderborn.
In Vietnam, Percy Tau and Njabulo Blom were both absent from the squad as Nam Dinh went down 2-1 to Da Nang.
In the USA MLS, Mbekezeli Mbokazi delivered a full-match performance for Chicago Fire in an entertaining 3-3 draw with FC Cincinnati, while his compatriot Puso Dithejane made a brief eight-minute cameo after coming on in the second half.
Elsewhere in the United States, Bongokuhle Hlongwane remained an unused substitute as Minnesota United secured a 2-0 victory over Portland Timbers, while Olwethu Makhanya completed the full 90 minutes in Philadelphia Union’s goalless draw against DC United.
In Tanzania, Rushine De Reuck played the entire match for Steve Barker’s Simba SC, as they claimed a solid 3-1 victory over Namungo. Neo Maema also contributed, featuring for 28 minutes in the same encounter.
