Maluleka On Downs Response After Stellies Draw

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Maluleka is adamant that his former team will rally back strongly from their minor setback against Stellenbosch FC.

Despite taking a first half lead through Tsiki Ntsabeleng, his third goal of the season, the defending Betway Premiership champions were held to a 1-1 stalemate thanks to Tshegofatso Mabasa’s late spot kick.

Sundowns still however have the title race firmly in their hands as they have played a game less and are just a point behind leaders Orlando Pirates who are in action against Kaizer Chiefs in Sunday’s Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium.

Miguel Cardoso’s charges face a tricky trip to KwaZulu-Natal where they will take on Richards Bay at uMhlathuze Sports Complex.

The Natal Rich Boyz have already proven to be a hard nut to crack. They beat Chiefs 1-0 and then held the Buccaneers to a 2-2 draw at the same venue.

Speaking on The Pitchside Podcast, ‘Mido’ believes Sundowns will be a different side having dropped points in the Stellies clash.

“I think you take it on the chin, you reflect, you rectify and you get back up,” he said.

“Obviously, it’s not the results that you wanted going to the next game.

“I think you will come out guns blazing. Sundowns is gonnna come out guns blazing.

“They gonna come out strong and you can see what happens. There are consequences with drawing the game [against Stellies].

“And now, they have to come up and make sure they get three points.

“There’s no time to panic. Still a lot of games. Five games.

“It’s a lot of games [before the season ends].”
