Rulani Mokwena’s Pyramids FC extended their winning streak to 13 matches after beating Wadi Delga.
Following Al Ahly SC’s earlier 1-0 victory, which cut the gap at the top to one point. Pyramids had one thing in mind – to get maximum points.
Indeed, Pyramids started the game like a house on fire as Mahmoud Saber scored a long range to put Pyramids in front just after 11 minutes. Saber has scored in three consecutive matches including a goal in the CAF Champions League against El Merriekh.
Seven minutes before halftime, Wadi Delga equalized through a great header from unfamiliar goalscorer Ahmed Abdeen. The game went into the break 1-1.
Mokwena must have said something to motivate his side as they came back guns blazing in the second half and they were rewarded in the 58th minute as World Cup star Mostafa Ziko scored following a pull back pass from Mohanad Lasheen. Ziko took his goal contribution seven this season.
The 2025 CAF Champions League winners restored the four points gap between them and Al Ahly SC in the Egyptian Premier League. They will now shift the focus to the league cup before facing Al Ahly in the league.
