Kutumela On Baroka Relegation – ‘I’m Too Emotional’

AmaZulu FC attacker Thabiso Kutumela has opened up about the heartbreaking relegation of his former club, Baroka FC, to the third-tier ABC Motsepe League.

The 32-year-old was a mainstay with Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele during their rise to professional football, establishing himself as a star player before his high-profile move to Orlando Pirates in 2016.

Baroka’s descent into the semi-professional ranks was officially confirmed following a 3-0 defeat to Kruger United one week ago.

Kutumela admitted to feeling deeply emotional about the club’s downfall, noting how hard he and his former teammates fought to establish the Limpopo outfit in the second tier and top-flight.

“I don’t know what to say because I’m too emotional about that question because I know how I struggled with the team from SAB, NFD to PSL,” said Kutumela.

“When I saw the results, I was like ‘What is happening?’ Even the first time when they were relegated to NFD, I was feeling [sad].

“I even went to chairman, we talked but I can’t help I can’t do anything, I’m emotional because that status means a lot for people of Limpopo.

“So, I just hope they can come up again and fix their structure. Maybe they will come back to NFD, but I’m so emotional about their relegation.”
