Orlando Pirates defender Kamogelo Sebelebele has spoken about their aim to win all three remaining ‘finals’ after they edged out Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday night.
Many expected Stellies to put up a huge fight but they were no match for the dominant Buccaneers who needed two first half goals coupled with possession and resilience to seal the tie at Athlone Stadium.
Evidence Makgopa and Patrick Maswanganyi struck in the 42nd and 45th minutes as Pirates ran out 2-0 winners to move within two points of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are in action at home against Kaizer Chiefs tonight.
Pirates’ next match sees them travel away to take on relegation-threatened Magesi, and then after Durban City before they conclude the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign against ORBIT College.
Speaking to OP TV after the match, Sebelebele, who was also voted Man of the Match on the night having been a constant performer for Pirates since returning from injury, said they have had a discussion among themselves to perform for 90 minutes in all their remaining games which was also evident against Stellies.
“This game, we came here knowing it won’t be an easy game cause we’re playing away,” he said.
“But each and every game is important, each and every game is a final and we’ve decided with the guys that the remaining games, we want to win them all.
“We know Stellenbosch is not an easy team, but as the guys we need everyone. Everyone that gets a chance to play must make sure that we help each other so that we can win the games. Without being united, we won’t win games.
“When I’m on the pitch, I forget what the pitch looks like, we work and we’ll then see after 90 minutes.
“If we sustain injuries, there are people who will help us recover.
“On the field of play we work until 90 minutes.”
