iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has lauded Kaizer Chiefs for the improved season they are enjoying especially the interim co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.
The two coaches were promoted to the hot seat after the club parted ways with Nasreddine Nabi in October 2025. Under their guidance, Chiefs qualified for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup though they didn’t get out of the group.
They have now secured third place in the Betway Premiership with two matches to spare and also confirmed participation in the Confederation Cup next season.
The 2025/26 season is the first time the Naturena best outfit will finish in the top eight in three seasons, having slipped out in the last two campaigns.
Khanye gave the coaches credit along with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen while he added the rest of the group was coachable.
“If we are being honest this is a much better season,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“These two coaches and their players worked hard compared to last season. They are now in position three and confirmed a CAF Confederation Cup spot.
“We have to give the coaches credit because even [Nasreddine] Nabi failed to finish in the top eight. We give the coaches credit because they won so many games and never lost so many games as well.
“Well done to Petersen, he’s also improved we must also give him credit because he wasn’t like this last season. The goalkeeping position is very important, sometimes you find that your team is not playing well but if you don’t concede it helps.
“Even [Itumeleng] Khune helped this club when he was in between the lines. Well done to Petersen in the game against Pirates he stood out and even against Sundowns he stood out. Truly speaking they needed a goalkeeper.
“And as a team they were coachable in terms of getting things right tactically, but the goalkeeper was the one who raised his hand. So, to answer you, this year is much better from Kaizer Chiefs for winning more games than they did last season.”
