TS Galaxy interim coach Bernard Parker has responded to Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso’s claim that a busy schedule is to blame for his side’s late struggle to get results.

Masandawana were handed a 3-2 defeat by the Rockets in a Betway Premiership match at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening, seeing their league hopes dented.

The Brazilians are also set to play the CAF Champions League final first leg against ASFAR Rabat this Sunday at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

After losing to Galaxy, Cardoso stated that his side struggled due to the high volume of fixtures they are currently facing.

Parker thinks otherwise, arguing that top clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City — who equally possess quality squads — manage their rotations effectively without making such excuses.

He believes Cardoso would not have made these comments had Sundowns won the match.

“No way [that we won because Sundowns are fatigued], this is what football is about,” said Parker in the interview with SNAWA on Metro FM.

“You don’t hear Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man City talk such because they play week in, week out at high intensity in terms of Champions League football, local cups and local leagues.

“It’s just about how can you refresh your squad and get the results. Sometimes you cannot play the way you want to play the whole year through, sometimes you have to plan.

“In our case, we had to plan, we had four games in 10 days with the small squad we have. Hence, we had to bring our DDC players, they helped us win the match.

“If Cardoso was on the winning side, he would have said something different but this is football but I just want to wish them all the best in the [CAF Champions League] final.”
