Morocco Name World Cup Squad

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has named his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup where there will be major expectations for the North African nation.

The Atlas Lions, one of 10 representatives of the continent has emerged as one of the genuine contenders for the title alongside Senegal – currently eighth in the official FIFA rankings and reached the semi-finals in 2020.

Despite the controversial Africa Cup of Nations final defeat, which – as things stand – was overturned as a 3-0 forfeit win against Senegal, they are currently on 34-match unbeaten run.

They last tasted defeat in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16, when South Africa eliminated them with a 2-1 scoreline in San Pedro, Ivory Coast.

Much has changed over the past three years, with Walid Regragui, leaving his role and replaced by Ouahbi – who led the U20 national team to the FIFA World Cup crown.

Morocco are in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland and Haiti – with the opening game scheduled to take place against the Seleção on 14 June at midnight (GMT+2).

Ouahbi has invited 28 players – of which are only three playing in Morocco – to a training from 22 to 28 May before announcing his final selection.
