Baartman On Facing Relegation-Threatened Chippa

Kaizer Chiefs utility player Luke Baartman has shared his thoughts on facing relegation-threatened Chippa United this weekend.

The two sides will face off on Saturday at 15:00 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, in what will be the final matchday of the Betway Premiership season.

Amakhosi have already secured the number three spot in the standings, guaranteeing themselves CAF Confederation Cup qualification for next season.

However, the Chilli Boys are sitting in 13th place and need to secure at least a draw or a victory. If they fail to do so, they will be left hoping that relegation rivals Marumo Gallants and Orbit College drop crucial points in their respective fixtures.

Baartman says that despite already clinching third place—which was their primary target—they will still go out targeting all three points on the day.

“Like you all know, Chippa is in a dangerous position, they’re going to come with everything they have,” said Baartman.

“And for us, we secured third place. But for us, it’s also to go out and get the three points on Saturday.”

Asked how they have been preparing for what is a dead rubber to them he said, “Nothing different. We’re just doing like how we’re going to approach the game.

“It’s up to them how they’re going to come. We don’t know how they’re going to come, really. But we will do our best to get the three points.”
