Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze says the four players called up to the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the FIFA World Cup are a sign of the significant progress the team has made.

Kaze was speaking after Amakhosi’s final Betway Premiership match of the season, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The Burundian tactician noted that during their tenure at Chiefs, they took a squad that some had underrated and worked hard to maximize its potential.

Kaze added that he believes all four of his players currently in the initial 32-man squad will make the final 26-man roster when Hugo Broos announces it this week.

“Maboe, Petersen, Cross and [Monyane]. That shows us all the progress that has been made this season,” said Kaze.

“Sometimes people think that the best coaches are the coaches that complain about everything, about players not having enough resources.

“Sometimes you use what you get, and you make it better. The four players that have been in the preliminary squad are the sign of the progress that has been made collectively and individually.

“I hope that they make all of them the way to the World Cup.”
