iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has pointed out what he believes was the difference to Mamelodi Sundowns clinching their second CAF Champions League title.
Sundowns drew 1-1 with Morocco’s ASFAR in Rabat on Sunday to win this season’s title 2-1 on aggregate following their 1-0 victory in the first leg in Pretoria a week ago. This is only their second African title with the first one coming in 2016.

Since 2016, Sundowns have only come close in the competition and last season reached the final but were beaten by Pyramids FC to the podium.
The former Kaizer Chiefs winger says this season Miguel Cardoso had lethal strikers, quality midfielders, a better defence and also sacrificed the domestic league.
“Sundowns had two strikers that were very clinical in [Brayan] Leon and [Iqraam] Rayners,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“At the back, they were much better compared to other seasons in the Champions League. I mean this guy [Keanu] Cupido is a special player they got a big fish there. Their midfielders too, Jayden Adams, [Teboho] Mokoena and [Marcelo] Allende they’ve got top class players honestly.
“The other difference is they have special players in important positions. The other thing I think they sacrificed the Betway Premiership to focus on this trophy. Yes, they wanted to win the league, their schedule was tight for me and I’m not making excuses for them.
“So, to answer you the difference was their two top strikers, three midfielders who I believe are the best in Africa.”
