Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has revealed that there will be discussions with coach Miguel Cardoso regarding the latter’s future saying things look positive so far.
Cardoso is in his second season with the Brazilians and guided them to their second CAF Champions League title after defeating Moroccan side ASFAR 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged final.

Sundowns relinquished their domestic title this season the first time in nine campaigns with the coach having come under pressure for the majority of the term and being backed by his employer. The coach’s contract is coming to an end in June.
Motsepe on the team’s arrival from Morocco on Monday reflected on the reasons they hired Cardoso in the first place. He also added that the club’s board will enter into talks with Cardoso soon.
“When we brought the coach to the club, there was an objective, a goal that we wanted to achieve,” Motsepe told the media at the OR Tambo International airport.
“We wanted to make sure that the team could reach another level and achieve something very special and we have done that. We’ve achieved something very, very special. Now, the question is going forward, can we do it more? Can we do even better? Can we continue to write this very special story that we’ve written so far this season?
“I believe that where the club is heading right now is in a positive direction, in terms of we have the ability to build, and we will obviously go into the next few months now and have discussions.
“But definitely the discussions are already in a very much more positive position than when we had discussions before the coach even joined the club.
“And I think that’s as far as I should say for now, out of respect to the coach and of course the discussions that we’re going to have as a board.”
