Durban City are closing in on former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United tactician Eric Tinkler following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
The club has been led by interim coach Pitso Dladla, alongside assistant Ashraf Hendricks and goalkeeper coach Rowan Fernandez.
The trio took over the reins from Sinethemba Badela, who abruptly parted ways with the outfit just weeks after arriving to replace Gavin Hunt in what has clearly become a hot seat.
Dladla went on to pull off the unthinkable, guiding the team to a historic Nedbank Cup triumph to ensure a KwaZulu-Natal club tasted major silverware for the first time since Golden Arrows lifted the MTN8 in 2009.
Through this achievement, Durban City secured a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. However, Dladla lacks the mandatory CAF A license required to sit on the bench during continental fixtures, as he currently holds a CAF B license.
With a deal now seemingly close to completion, Tinkler could be handed the opportunity to lead the side into Africa next term.
According to iDiski Times sources, the two parties have been locked in talks for some time and came close to finalizing an agreement last week, with only the finer details left outstanding.
Tinkler already boasts a solid relationship with club owner Farouk Kadodia from his previous tenure at Maritzburg United, and the duo were heavily linked during the just-ended campaign before Tinkler left Sekhukhune.
