Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane says the reason he wanted to stay at the club is because he’d like to finish what he started as a youngster.

Mshishi extended his stay at the club with a new one year deal that has an option to renew last week after the side’s success in the CAF Champions League.

The continental feat also meant that he and Denis Onyango are the only Sundowns players to have two Champions League medals, the other having come in 2016.

Meanwhile the 36 year old midfielder has spent 15 years at Chloorkop having arrived as a 21 year old. He said his tenure has been amazing as it also helped him grow as a man.

“To be honest it [my time at the club] was amazing and I learned so much” said Zwane on The Pitchside Podcast.

“I came to the club as a young boy and it helped me to build myself as a man and as father at home you know. And I really appreciate the opportunity that they gave me.”

“To be honest with you it’s very important for me because my blood is yellow I will always be Masandawana family. So all these years it was my wish to finish my career here.”
