Following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Magesi FC have taken to social media with a statement on their season that concluded in heartbreaking fashion.

Dikwena tša Meetse’s two-season stay in the Betway Premiership came to a brutal end this past weekend when they drew 1-1 with Milford FC in the last game of the promotion playoffs in their backyard on Saturday.

The result saw them swap leagues with the KZN-based outfit. The Limpopo side came into the game needing nothing but a win to stay up in the big league.

They scored first; a lead they enjoyed into halftime time only to concede later in the second half and relinquish their topflight status having finished 15th in the regular season.

A statement on their X account said they were heartbroken however they know it’s not the end of the world vowing to rise up again in the future.

To Our Dikwena Family

Saturday broke our hearts. And it hurts because it mattered most.

This season was challenging. We faced setbacks, fought hard, and fell short of what we all wanted. Through every high and low, you stayed with us.

Thank you for being with Magesi FC all season long. For the chants when our legs were heavy. For the belief when belief was hard. For wearing the Blue no matter what. You carried this club.

Relegation hurts. But it doesn’t change who we are. Dikwena Tša Meetse. It’s this community. It’s you.

This is a setback, not the end. We will rebuild and fight our way back. Because you deserve it. Because it matters most.

From the players, coaches, and everyone at the club: Thank you for your love, patience and loyalty.

Dikwena Tša Meetse will rise again. Together.”
