The Mamelodi Sundowns squad are set to report to Chloorkop next week to begin their start of pre-season for the 2026/27 season.
The African champions have enjoyed an extended break, as several of the Premier Soccer League clubs already returned to training this week – it would be around 31 days since their last fixture, their end of season clash against RB Leipzig.
In a rollercoaster campaign, where they relinquished their league title for the first time in eight seasons – to Orlando Pirates – it ended with success, as they won the CAF Champions League for the first time in a decade.
The win over Leipzig further offered optimism around the future of the squad as teenage talents Thato Sibiya, Gomolemo Kekana and Bennet Mokoena starring in the 3-1 win over the Bundesliga side.
iDiski Times has been informed after one week at Chloorkop, they will then depart for their trip to Austria where they will face Red Bull Salzburg and the other opponents, said to be another three games, to be confirmed.
Miguel Cardoso – who’s one-year option was taken up at the end of last season is set to take charge of the club for his second full season, having arrived in December 2024.
Since then, he’s overseen 84 games, with 53 wins, 19 draws and 12 defeats – 161 goals scored and 69 conceded, with the league title and Champions League crown to his name.
Masandawana have one official signing confirmed in Antonio van Wyk from SV Ried thus far going into the pre-season preperations.
