Durban City have agreed to sign Tashreeq Morris as Khalil Ben Youssef reunited with the striker after their stints at Kaizer Chiefs.

The 32-year-old looked poised to join Stellenbosch in January, and while interest remained over the former Ajax Cape Town, Supersport United and Sekhukhune United attacker, City have now agreed to a deal.

As first reported by SABC Sport, the Nedbank Cup champions have secured the services Morris as a free agent, who was not guaranteed game time at the club due to the presence of Flavio da Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, Wandile Duba, Ashley du Preez, Luke Baartman – while also had Khanyisa Mayo on loan last season.

Naledi Hlongwane – who is also held in high regard by the club adds further competition and the move to City will now offer a platform under Ben Youssef to revive his career, with the coach an admirer of his talents, having broken back into the Chiefs squad towards the latter end of the season.

Morris scored his only goal for the club towards the end of the campaign in a 2-0 win over his former club Sekhukhune, as Amakhosi secured a third place finish in the league.
