Milford FC chairman Xanti Pupuma has made a decision on the club’s head coach position ahead of the start of the new season.

The KZN outfit secured promotion to the Betway Premiership after winning the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs under Pupuma’s guidance as head coach.

Following the playoff triumph, Pupuma said the club would decide who would lead the team in the top flight.

He has now confirmed that he will remain in charge after members of the technical team and the players asked him to continue in the role.

“I tried to run away, they [technical team] stopped me, I really tried,” said Pupuma on Prime Time Sport with Victor Molefe on UKhozi FM.

“I then decided that let’s try one season and see. It was the technical team along with the players. But then, we’re going to try and push.”

‘Pupuma reveals 2026/27 target’

Pupuma says their target in what will be their first season in the top flight will be to reach 30 points as soon as possible, settle in the league, and then rebuild the team ahead of the following season.

“The aim is to try and get to 30 points as quickly as possible,” he added.

“When we have reached it, whatever we will get beyond that target will be a bonus.

“We will then see how much we can get and where we end the season. We believe if we get 30 points, we’ll be okay to settle and rebuild on that.”
