Mamelodi Sundowns have postponed their departure to Austria for pre-season following the tragic passing of midfielder Jayden Adams.
On Saturday, 11 July, South African football lovers woke up to devastating news of the untimely passing of the Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder just a month after partaking in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Americas.
Masandawana were scheduled to depart for Austria on Sunday, 12 July, but have now released a brief statement that their travelings have been halted.
“Given the circumstances, the team did not travel to Austria yesterday,” the club said.
“As it stands, the pre-season has not been cancelled but the departure has been postponed.”
The club is expected to provide another update on their departure in the not-so distant future with the Betway Premiership set to get underway next month.
