Stellenbosch FC have announced their third signing of today, with goalkeeper Nathan Garrow, who made headlines at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, joining from New Zealand side Auckland City.

Garrow, 21, was born in Cape Town but played his football in New Zealand, where he has won two New Zealand National League titles, and two OFC Champions Leagues.

He made headlines at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after replacing Auckland’s first-choice goalkeeper Conor Tracey, who conceded 10 goals in a record 10–0 defeat to Bayern Munich. In the second game, Garrow made 10 saves in a 6-0 defeat to Benfica – the joint-most in the tournament’s history, while he made another six saves as Auckland held Argentine giants Boca Juniors to a 1-1 draw – there first ever point in Club World Cup history. The young goalie received a 7.9 and 8.6 rating for his two performances.

On Tuesday, Stellies announced him as the third arrival on the day following George Matlou and Terrence Mashego.

“Following the retirement of Lee Langeveldt and the departure of Oscarine Masuluke, Stellenbosch FC has strengthened its goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Cape Town-born New Zealander Nathan Garrow on a permanent transfer,” the club stated.

Stellenbosch FC CEO, Rob Benadie, said, “We are delighted to welcome Nathan to Stellenbosch FC. He is a talented young goalkeeper with outstanding potential, and his performances over the past year have demonstrated that he has the quality to succeed at a high level.

“He has an incredibly bright future ahead of him, and we believe that he will benefit from the opportunities for growth that exist at the Club, while simultaneously helping to improve our goalkeeping department.”
