South African International Gift Links has signed a new contract with Danish champions Aarhus Gymnastikforening.
Links, 27, was one of the club’s outstanding players during their championship-winning campaign, being selected 14 times in the Team of the Week, making 32 appearances with four goals and six assists.
His fine performances didn’t go unnoticed and the wing-back had been subject of interest from RC Lens and Colorado Rapids. However, he has now put pen to paper on a new deal until June 2031, his club announced.
“Gift carries AGF’s DNA and the values that we want to be known for,” AGF Football Director Carsten V. Jensen said.
“His performances on the pitch, most recently in the championship season, speak for themselves, but because of Gift’s character and personality, his importance to AGF goes beyond that.
“We are very pleased that he has chosen to extend his time at AGF with a new contract.”
Links himself also expressed his happiness about the new deal: :I greatly appreciate the club’s trust and recognition and look forward to continuing to fight for AGF and Aarhus, where I feel fantastically comfortable.
“The experience of the championship and the celebration with all Aarhusians was unique and is a huge motivation to achieve great things together again.”
