Durban City utility player Bandile Shandu has reflected on his move to the club after leaving Orlando Pirates at the end season.
The versatile 31-year-old enjoyed five seasons with the Soweto giants after joining in 2021 from Maritzburg United, who rebranded as Durban City.
Shandu says settling back in has been seamless, crediting the warm reception he has received from everyone at the club.
“I think it’s been a smooth transition. Coming back home really feels good. I’m happy to be here,” Shandu told club’s media department.
“Happy to be back at the club. The club welcomed me very, very well. I’m also grateful for that and I appreciate that.
“I’m just thankful and grateful to be back.”
Shandu believes the strong sense of brotherhood within the squad will play a key role in helping Durban City achieve their objectives this season.
“Yeah, I think we have a great squad. I think the camaraderie we have is very great,” he added.
“We’ve got like a brotherhood going and I think that’s what’s going to help us in terms of games, in terms of throughout the season.
“They welcomed me very, very well. The technical team as well, it felt like I’ve been here for years, you know, so I’m truly grateful for that and I thank the guys for welcoming me back very, very, very smoothly and I really appreciate that.”
