New Kaizer Chiefs signing Faiz Abrahams has credited the club’s focus on young players as one of the reasons he signed for them.
Amakhosi secured the services of the exciting young winger from Stellenbosch FC this past week on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
The 21-year-old hails Bishop Lavis on the Cape Flats and began his football career at the famous Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) Ikamva youth ranks before joining Stellies.
At the Cape Winelands outfit, Abrahams featured in the DStv Diski Challenge squad before earning his senior debut, ironically against Chiefs two seasons ago.
Last season, he had a successful loan stint at Israeli club, Hapoel Kfar Saba, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 11 appearances, before returning to Stellies.
“I am very happy to join Kaizer Chiefs,” he told the club’s website.
“It is an honour to be here at one of the biggest clubs in Africa. They have won a lot of trophies and what attracted me most is that they have a history of giving opportunities to young players.”
Abrahams was also part of the South African U20 squad that won the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt last year alongside the likes of Mfundo Vilakazi.
