Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula has reacted on marking his return to the club with a goal saying it’s the best feeling.

Mailula, 25, returned to the club where it all started for him professionally last month after a two-year absence. The Limpopo-born forward was impressive in his first season with the Brazilians first team where he scored 15 goals in 31 appearances in the 2022/23 season.

That earned him a transfer to Toronto FC in the MLS the following term however he struggled to get game time in America. He was eventually sent out on loan to Wydad Athletic Club which was followed by another loan to KV Kortrijk in Belgium.

He returned home to re-join Sundowns as his contract with Toronto which was due to finish in December 2026 was mutually terminated.

‘Cash’ marked his return by scoring the winning goal in his side’s 3-2 victory over Polokwane City in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 over the weekend from the bench.

He described it as an amazing feeling adding that he just wants to continue to contribute to the club’s success.

“Feels good to be back home,” said Mailula on Mamelodi Sundowns TV.

“Very, very amazing feeling; I think it’s actually the best feeling because I also helped the team you know. It shows that I’m actually here to help the team and continue to contribute to the success of the team.

“For me, it’s just to continue scoring helping the team. I actually want to win trophies. You know, for me, it’s just to go all out to win all the trophies to also score more goals. You know, yeah, that’s it.”
