Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has admitted that facing TS Galaxy is a tough challenge though they are determined for what he described as a game they ‘have to win’.
The two sides meet in what is Sundowns’ first match of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season having missed the opening weekend of the league wrapping up their pre-season activities.
However, they come into the encounter confident from a 3-2 victory over Polokwane City in the MTN 8 quarter-finals this past weekend where ‘Mshishi’ assisted the winning goal from the bench.
Meanwhile, this is the Rockets’ second league game of the new campaign. They started with a 2-2 draw away at Siwelele and will be looking for their first victory.
Last season, Galaxy upset Sundowns in a game that opened way for Orlando Pirates to topple the eight-time league champions from their long reign as the domestic champions.
The veteran midfielder says they know what to expect and to do in Mbombela.
“Obviously, the preparations were not that much,” said Mshishi to Sundowns media.
“But upon arrival in Mpumalanga, we got to watch the TS Galaxy game. And we know what we expect, especially the game that we played against them last time when we were here.
“So, we know what we expect, we know what to do, and I think we are ready as a team. To be honest, we have to win against them.
“I think every time when we play against them, they give us a tough time. But to be honest, we know that it’s not going to be easy, but we have to push we are fighting for three points.”
