Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United have announced their starting line-ups in a tantalising Betway Premiership fixture where former co-head coach Cedric Kaze returns to FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi come into the encounter needing a response after their disappointing 1-0 MTN8 quarter-final defeat to Golden Arrows at the weekend. Fernando Da Cruz’s side had started the league season positively, beating newly promoted Kruger United 3-1, but will now be looking to regain momentum in front of their home supporters.
Sekhukhune, meanwhile, arrive in Johannesburg with plenty of confidence. Babina Noko began their league campaign with a 1-0 victory over Durban City before producing a thrilling 4-3 extra-time win over AmaZulu in the MTN8 quarter-finals.
The fixture also brings an interesting subplot as Kaze faces his former club. The Sekhukhune coach was part of the Chiefs technical team last season, meaning he will have plenty of knowledge of the Amakhosi squad and their strengths.
Chiefs have enjoyed recent success in this fixture, winning the last meeting 2-0 away from home in May. However, Sekhukhune have previously shown they can hurt Amakhosi at FNB Stadium, making Wednesday’s encounter difficult to call.
