The South African Football Association have confirmed the appointment of Pitso Mosimane as new head coach of Bafana Bafana.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly head coach has been without club job since leaving Esteghlal FC in January 2025.
However, he had continuously confirmed his interest in a national team job, with the ambition to win the Africa Cup of Nations and participate in the FIFA World Cup.
On 8 August, SAFA had confirmed that the National Executive Committee had approved Mosimane to succeed Hugo Broos as new Bafana coach.
Over the last three weeks, SAFA and Mosimane’s camp negotiated hard and have now finally come to an agreement of a contract.
“Coach Pitso Mosimane arrives at SAFA House ahead of the confirmation as the new Bafana Bafana coach. He takes over from the former Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos,” SAFA stated.
It will be Mosimane’s second spell in charge of Bafana, after he was first in charge of national team following the 2010 FIFA World Cup, signing a four-year contract but was dismissed after failing to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
He also worked as assistant for Carlos Alberto Perreira and Joel Natalino Santana.
