Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani has termed Thandolwenkosi Ngwena’s vicious tackle on Sihle Nduli as brutality which warranted a sending off.
The incident which was highly sensitive to viewers occurred during AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates’ 1-1 stalemate at Kings Park in Durban last week Wednesday.

Ngwenya appeared to plunge into Nduli as the Pirates midfielder cleared the ball and the Usuthu man only got away with a yellow card from referee Luxolo Badi.
The 30-year-old Pirates midfielder has since been ruled out of competitive action for four months with the club confirming he had suffered a Grade 3 ligament tear in his ankle.
Usuthu, via coach Arthur Zwane and then later on Ngwenya extended an apology to Pirates for the ‘non-malicious’ tackle on Nduli.
“This was brutality! I’ve never seen something like this in my life,” Hlungwani said on Soccerzone.
“You can see what Ngwenya here does. Look at him there. That tackle is horrible.
“A yellow card was given. Incorrect decision.
“We don’t want to play it too much because it was horrible to watch.”
