In-form Chicago Fire winger Puso Dithejane has explained what former FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has taught him.
Dithejane had been struggling to break through into the Chicago Fire team since he arrived from TS Galaxy in January. Initially the former Kaizer Chiefs man spent most of the time on the bench and was limited to substitute appearances.
However, things changed after the break for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Dithejane impressing his coach and now getting regular minutes and repaying the faith of Gregg Berhalter with several top performances.
The 22-year-old scored his first goal in their 3-2 loss at the hands of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. This was the very same night Lewandowski made his debut for Chicago.
Fire are on a six-match winning streak, with Dithejane scoring three goals in his last three games. After again being on the scoresheet last night, he revealed what he learnt from Lewandowski.
“We told ourselves we have lots of games coming and we told ourselves we have to win all those games, it’s all on the mind, mentality has to be right going into a game and we go to win,” Dithejane told the media.
The former Galaxy explained how experienced striker Lewandowski is helping him to better his game.
“[Lewandowski] has been helping me with finishing, getting into spaces, and teaching me how to relax in the box that’s how we learn from legends,” he added.
