Chicago Fire winger Puso Dithejane says he had to bide his time after seeing countryman Mbekezeli Mbokazi adapt quickly in the Major League Soccer.

The two completed their respective transfers to Fire in January 2026 with the centre-back hitting the ground running and impressing on arrival.

So far, Mbokazi has played 12 matches for the side with his season prematurely ended by an injury after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, the former TS Galaxy man has made 12 appearances for the first team and has one goal and two assists for Fire.

Speaking to iDiski Times senior journalist Lorenz Köhler in edition 266 of the newspaper, Dithejane said he is not in a rush because he knows he will shine too.

“No, for me it wasn’t that difficult, ” Dithejane told iDiski Times.

“You know, when the time is right, the court will show up. You know, I told myself that Mbokazi was like, he came here and outshined.

“You know, for me, I stayed calm. I didn’t want to rush anything. You know, yeah. Then when the time is right, I’ll shine too. You know.”
