Chicago Fire attacker Puso Dithejane was a 69th-minute introduction and grabbed two assists in their 3-1 win over Santos Laguna in the 2026 MLS Leagues Cup at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday.

The 22-year-old started on the bench in the Leagues Cup which is played in North and Central America with the visitors taking a 20th-minute lead earlier on.

Ezequiel Bullaude notched up the goal for Santos, but the visitors fell flat after the South African winger entering the fray.

Just three minutes into the game, Dithejane laid an assist for Philip Zinckernagel for the first goal to make it 1-1.

That wasn’t enough for the South African as he laid another assist for Robin Lod in the 90th minute to put Chicago Fire in front, 2-1. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski made it 3-1 in the 95th minute for the three points.

The win moved Chicago into third spot on six points after two outings behind first-placed Austin and Charlotte in second spot.

The South African winger seems to be settling in well now after four goal contributions in the last three games. This includes a goal and an assist in MLS Next Pro, the reserve-side league.
