iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye was critical of Kaizer Chiefs new defensive midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa saying there is nothing special about the Tanzanian international.
Mtasingwa, 27, was one of two players who made their official debuts for Chiefs, having started in the side’s 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows in the MTN 8 quarter-final on Sunday.
The match at FNB Stadium was Amakhosi’s first in the season, in the Wafa Wafa tournament after they missed out on the last two editions after finishing in the bottom half in the league.
Meanwhile, Mtasingwa donned black and gold when Chiefs won the pre-season Toyota Cup against Zimbabwe’s Scottland FC in July.
Khanye wasn’t impressed with the player in his official game saying there are players in South African townships who are much better than Mtasingwa adding that he’s also burdening his teammates with extra work.
“There’s a kid we can get in Daveyton or Soweto or Spruit who is much better than this guy,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“If you can’t attack the space with the ball as an international player there’s a problem. If you can’t even turn as an international player, there’s nothing special. There’s nothing special about this guy, instead he plays safe and worse he doesn’t want to take responsibility.
“[Lebohang] Maboe is going to get tired or get injured. Maboe is a defensive midfielder and also a box-to-box player and he’s doing both duties while Mtasingwa is there.
“This guy just added a number on the team sheet. He reminds me of [Akumu] Agay. [Thabo] Cele was even better because he fetches the ball, passes it and calls for it too.”
