Former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz has been reappointed by Ghana after leaving the Black Stars initially following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana started their tournament with a 1-0 over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw. A 2-1 defeat to Croatia saw them drop into third place in their group but they still made the knockout stages where they were eliminated by Colombia.

Initially Queiroz’s stint had ended, but the Ghana Football Association now announced his return ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for his appointment as Head Coach of the Black Stars for the next phase of the team’s programme,: the GFA stated.
“Queiroz’s previous mandate, which included leading Ghana at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, concluded a few weeks ago. Following discussions with the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, it was agreed that Carlos Queiroz would embark on a new coaching mandate, commencing with the upcoming international window.
“The GFA believes Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars position him strongly to lead the team into this next chapter.
“Further details on the new mandate and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme will be announced in due course, as the GFA and Coach Queiroz turn their focus to building a successful new phase for Ghana on the international stage.”
