Former Stellenbosch FC winger Anicet Oura has secured a crucial 1-0 away win as Steve Barker’s Simba SC narrowly beat Malawian champions Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Barker and his troops had a tough task at hand, facing a difficult side like Wanderers whom have only lost two games since December 2024.
And the tie proved to be a difficult affair, as the game went into the break goalless.
In the second half, it was all about keeping a clean sheet for Simba for the third straight game after their 1-0 win over Coastal Union and 2-0 against Geita Gold.
The Red Lions took the lead in the 68th minute through former Stellies winger Oura which remained the only goal of the match.
Oura’s strike was enough for Simba to put one foot into the next round of the CAFCL preliminaries. Simba will have a week to prepare for the return league.
