Mamelodi Sundowns have won the race to secure the services of Bafana Bafana right-back Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City.
The 27-year-old who was part of the national team squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is considered one of the finest attacking full-backs in the league and has been subject of transfer offers from Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the current window.
However, sources have confirmed to iDiski Times a deal has been struck with Rise and Shine, along with personal terms, with now the routine medical the only thing standing in the way before the official annoucement.
Sundowns have also agreed a two-year deal to sign Thabo Cele, as a free agent after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs this week, as well as Deano van Rooyen after his exit from Orlando Pirates.
Van Rooyen and Matuludi arrive to shore up their defensive options on the right, after the long-term injury of Khuliso Mudau has ruled the player out for most of the 2026/27 campaign.
Masandawana, in recent weeks have been linked with several midfielders from South America, but this website understands it’s unlikely that any foreign recruit willl be forthcoming in the current window.
Matuludi has racked up 72 appearances for Polokwane, scoring six goals, with two assists in the top-flight, having joined the club whilst in the second-tier from amateur side The Dolphins five years ago.
