Kaizer Chiefs defender Dillon Solomons has admitted that he is aware of the battle of the top three sides in the Betway Premiership, however maintains his side will focus on control what they can control.
Eighteen-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns are currently at the summit of the table with 19 points from seven matches, followed by defending champions and Chiefs’ arch rivals Orlando Pirates with 13 points from five outings, while Amakhosi are third and two points behind the Buccaneers also from five matches.
All the three sides are unbeaten in the league so far as well. Chiefs are away at Polokwane City at the weekend and a win could see them surpass Pirates who will be on CAF Champions League duty, while they could potentially also narrow the gap to Sundowns.
Solomons admitted teams are watching their opponents but remain focused on doing their own work for their club.
“Obviously, you watch every single game when it comes to the other two teams,” he told Chiefs’ media.
“But for us, it’s just obviously staying on course, doing what we need to do firstly, and knowing our way. Obviously, we want to achieve great things with the club and that’s how we’re going to do it. We can’t be focusing on what other teams are doing.
“Yes, we’re all going to have a tight schedule coming close to the end of the year. But for us, it’s just staying on course, knowing what we need to do, and focusing on what we can control, and that’s our games.
“And whatever they do on their side, they do. You know we are just here to focus on ourselves and focus on our team.”
