Bafana Bafana defender Olwethu Makhanya put in a great shift as Rangers FC thumped arch-rivals Celtic 3-0 in the Scottish League Cup quarterfinal at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
In the first meeting of Rangers and Celtic this season, the home side got the better of their rivals to reach the semis.
After a resilient first half, the tie appeared to be going one way only which was Rangers’ by a stretch.
Derek McInnes’ charges were repaid for their dominance with no sign of a Celtic fightback at all as Dan Neil gave the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute.
It was 2-0 in the 59th minute from Kevin Kelsy before Neil completed the rout in the 75th minute for his brace of the afternoon and a dominant win to booking their berth in the semi-finals.

Makhanya played the entire match and received a yellow card in the 48th minute. On the positive note, a winning debut for the 22-year-old in the Old Firm Derby.
