Kaizer Chiefs have picked up their fourth draw in their last five games after being held to a goalless stalemate by Golden Arrows.
Fernando Da Cruz made three changes to his starting XI, with Brandon Petersen and Wandile Duba ruled out injured. Renaldo Leaner and Faiz Abrahams both made their first starts to replace the duo.
However, Arrows should’ve been 1-0 up after nine minutes, but Renaldo Leaner came up with a superb safe against Junior Sede Dion.
Arrows again had another great chance after 20 minutes when Osborn Maluleke set him up with brilliant cross but Dion did not connect with the ball properly from close range.
Chiefs had a chance to take the lead via a penalty after 32 minutes but Thakasani Mbanjwa came up with a superb safe to push Lebohang Maboe’s attempt onto the post.
The second half remained tightly-contested with neither side being able to impose themselves and take control of the tie.
Chiefs finally upped the ante in the last 15 minutes after a host of substitutions, with Mfundo Vilakazi having the best chance but his volley from a cross bounced onto the crossbar.
Arrows had a late chance to take the win but via from range but sailed past the post.
The point saw Amakhosi remain in fourth place, but their gap to leaders Sundowns – who have a game in hand – has opened up to seven points.
