Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has confirmed Lebohang Maboe had to be substituted due to an injury.
Maboe was a central figure in Chiefs’ goalless draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows, missing a first-half penalty.
He is the only Chiefs player called up to Pitso Mosimane’s Bafana Bafana squad but his availability is now a doubt after Da Cruz confirmed he had to be taken off with an injury.
“We changed position for position for Maboe, unfortunately his injury arrived a bit early in the second half,” he stated on SuperSport TV.
“After we were a bit imbalanced in midfield.
“The other substitutions were to win the game, I changed attacking players to win the game, because we always want to win the game.
“But unfortunately today we touched the post, we had opportunites but we didn’t score.”
Despite the goalless draw, Da Cruz insisted his team, especially his young attacking players, are on the right track and goals and results will soon follow.
“We have a lack of maturity in our frontline,” he added.
“Young players with a lot of quality but they lack maturity. But we are on a good way. We have to continue this way and will score, I’m 100% sure.
“People who watched in front of the tv today, it was a 0-0, but they have watched a very good game.”
