Defending champions South Africa convincingly beat Eswatini 2-0 to qualify for the COSAFA CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers semi-finals at the ABB 1 Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach Raymond Mdaka made a wholesome changes with only captain Lazola Maku, Takalani Mazhamba, Egan Freese, Cayden Fortune and Manelis Mazibuko being retained from the team that beat Angola 2-0.
South Africa were off to the perfect start as Manelis Mazibuko found his way into the box before firing a left-footed curler into the left corner for a 1-0 lead.
Young Orlando Pirates defender Milimo Nalumango’s well struck effort at the edge of the box was too good to be kept out as Amajita made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute.
The scoreline could’ve have read different but South Africa were correctly denied two penalties late in the second period.
South Africa have now wrapped up the group stages with a 100% record, scoring seven goals and conceding none.
They will now take on rivals and Group C winners Zambia in the last four with only one team qualifying for next year’s CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
