Botswana Premier League outfit Mochudi Centre Chiefs have unveiled South African coach Reneilwe Letsholonyane as the club’s new head coach.
This publication reported on Thursday that ‘Yeye’ had departed his assistant coaching role at Zimbabwean side FC Platinum, where he was assisting Thabo Senong, and that he was set for the hot seat in Botswana.
Chiefs, who are also known as Magosi or Maaparankwe, announced on Friday afternoon that they had appointed the Bafana Bafana legend as their new man in charge.
The four-time Botswana champions will be banking on the former Kaizer Chiefs playmaker to break their 12-year (since 2014/15) league title drought and restore the club back to its winning days. The league championship has been dominated by Jwaneng Galaxy and Gaborone United in recent years.
Letsholonyane returns to Botswana after coaching Matebele FC in June where he enjoyed a successful spell at the club, helping them retain their top-flight status while also earning a Coach of the Season nomination.
The Gaborone-based outfit currently sit in seventh place with four points after three matches.
