IDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has praised Bafana Bafana defender Ime Okon for his performance and goal in the team’s 2-1 victory against Guinea.
Okon, 22, was one of the faces from Bafana’s FIFA World Cup match against Canada in a new partnership with Olwethu Makhanya at center-back in the absence of Mbekezeli Mbokazi.
The Hanover 96 defender slotted home the opener against the West African side at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday as Bafana took control of group D with three points.
Khanye applauded Okon’s technical abilities and the partnership with Makhanya.
“That guy is a very good player,” said Khanye on IDiski TV.
“Technically very good and reading the game, complimenting each other with Makhanya. You can tell they play in Europe. You could hardly see those guys [Guinea] breaking us because we were asked questions we can’t say they didn’t come at us.”
“Well done to these two center-backs and we got the goal through Okon and it eased the pressure.”
“We got chances in the first half even the fluidity of our game and interchanging the ball. And this team challenged us.”
