Foster – It’s A Big Motivation

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster says their impressive form over the past year-and-a-half is a big motivation to achieve success at the Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa, barring the Lesotho debacle, are unbeaten in 23 games, ahead of the massive clash against Egypt at Ardrar Stadium in Agadir this afternoon.

Both sides opened up their Group B campaign with 2-1 victories, with the group now evenly poised, with victory for either side, securing a place in the knockout stage of the competition.

While Foster admits their success together as a squad, is a driving force to maintain their standards at AFCON as they chase continental glory.

“Sometimes it can be human nature for complacency to slip in, but I think it’s up to us drive our own standards, and to meet our expectations, where we have been the last year or more than the last year, it’s up to us to keep our streak going, it’s a big motivation,” Foster said.

“It’s also something we’re really proud of, so we’re going into the game, not thinking about previous results, we’re going to focus on the game and hopefully we can get a favourable result, I believe in the team, we’re fully confident and I believe we can keep on going.”

Foster, currently on the books of Premier League side Burnley says they have adapted easily since arriving in the North African state who have invested heavily into facilities and infrastructure in recent years as they look to drive football and tourism.

“The hospitality in Morocco is great so far, they have welcomed us well, very good hotels, good logistics, it’s been a seamless transition for us so far, no complaints,” he said.

“We have been very happy with the service we’ve been getting and just grateful and now will allow us to perform to the best of our abilities.”
