South Sudan Coach Compares Bafana To Morocco

South Sudan national team coach Nicholas Dupuis rates Bafana Bafana in the top two alongside Morocco and Senegal.

South Sudan last lost away from home by a three-goal margin or more when they lost to Senegal back in 2023; South Africa became the second team to do so.

They lost to Sudan 3-0 at home in June and Dupuis admitted that he knew that it was going to be difficult to play against South Africa, which has been performing well since Hugo Broos took over.

After the 3-0 loss to Bafana Bafana at a packed DHL Stadium, Dupuis admitted that it was too difficult to play against the AFCON2024 bronze medallists.

“It was very, very difficult, the team from South Africa is one of the best three in Africa, so it was normal,” Dupuis told the media after the match.

“I am very proud of my 14 players, local players from Juba because we won last week against Congo Brazzaville, but it was too difficult today.

“They fought a lot; they fought the whole 96 minutes. Today was just too difficult.”

After South Sudan lost back-to-back to South Africa in the AFCON qualifiers, Dupuis believes that this Bafana team is in the top two alongside Morocco despite not having many players playing in Europe.

“For sure for me, Morocco and South Africa are the best two teams in Africa now, I’m sure of that,” he added.

“Tactically, I think this team is the best one, maybe Morocco have more players playing in Europe so maybe technically they are better, Senegal is the same.

“I think now this team can play against a lot of teams against France for example, I don’t know the results when South Africa play against France, I don’t know the results.

“Because this team is very, very good, this team is very good maybe they don’t have enough players from outside from Europe because technically is not the same.

“They have a lot of very good players, offensive players but maybe defensively it’s not the same.”
