Two PSL Players Named In Uganda Squad To Face Bafana

Uganda have named Golden Arrows goalkeeper Ismail Watenga and Venda FC’s Charles Lukwago in their squad to face South Africa in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September.

South Africa hosts the Cranes in their Group K opener on Friday, 6 September at Orlando Stadium before travelling to the Juba Stadium to face South Sudan four days later.

The other nation within the group is Congo Brazzaville, with the top two nations progressing to the continental showpiece in Morocco at the end of the year.

Watenga, 29, has been one of the standout goalkeepers in South Africa since arriving at Mamelodi Sundowns, albeit having spent the four seasons out on loan.

Meanwhile, Lukwago joined VFC from Ethiopian side Hawasa Ketema FC ahead of the 2024/25 season.
