Angola secured their fourth Cosafa Cup title after a 5-0 drubbing over Namibia in the final at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
In what was their first triumph in the regional tournament since 2004, Pedro Goncalves’ side was by far the most impressive team on the day, and overall.
With 13 goals scored in five games, the final saw everything that could go wrong for The Brave Warriors, go wrong.
From penalties to red cards, and of course, the five goals conceded, it was a day to forget out in Gqeberha for the 2015 winners of the competition.
Pedro Bondo, Golden Boot winner Depú, who netted five goals, Keliano Manuel and a brace from Vidinho secured the emphatic win, the second of which was a thunderbolt from a free-kick straight after a direct red card was issued to Ivan Kamberipa after 67 minutes.
By that point, Angola were already leading 3-0 and cruising to victory, showcasing their impressive strides made, having reached the quarter-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
