SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United have both found out which teams they will face in the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round.
Gavin Hunt’s side qualified after finishing third in the DStv Premiership last season. They take part in the Confederation Cup for a third time, bowing out in the group stages in 2017/18, a season after making the final against TP Mazembe in 2016/17.
For Hunt it’s a return to the CAF inter-club competitions for the first time since guiding Kaizer Chiefs in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League semi-final before he was sacked, and Arthur Zwane guided the team into the final as interim coach.
Meanwhile, Babina Noko have qualified for a CAF competition for the very first time after reaching the Nedbank Cup final. With Pirates already qualified for the CAF Champions League, Brandon Truter and his men will have their first ever adventure on the continent.
Matsatsantsa were one of the exempted teams and will only enter the competition in the second preliminary round, where they will face the winner of Gaborone United from Botswana and Elgeco Plus from Madagascar.
Sekhukhune will enter the tournament in the first round and face Young Buffaloes of Eswatini In the second preliminary round they could face seeded team St. Eloi Lupopo, who were in Marumo Gallants CAFCC group last season.

The first legs for the first preliminary round will take place between 18 and 20 August, while the second legs will happen a week later between 25 and 27 August.
The second preliminary round is played between 15 and 17 September and 30 Sep to 1 October. All winners of the second preliminary round will qualify for the CAFCL group stages.
