Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Abubeker Nasir bagged a hat-trick for Ethiopia as they hammered Djibouti 6-1 on Monday evening.
Nasir, 25, returned to international football this window and already featured in Ethiopia’s 2-0 defeat to Egypt where he played 78 minutes.
The striker, who is currently on load at SuperSport United from Sundowns, used his chance with a statement performance on Monday.
Nasir bagged his side’s second and third goal in the 34th and 37th minute, respectively, while completing his hat-trick with a penalty in the 58th minute.
Bereket Desta also scored a hat-trick to complete the route by Ethiopia, which was their first win in these qualifiers.
They moved to six points from as many games in Group A, but are still seven points behind leaders Egypt and five behind second-placed Burkina Faso.
At club level, Nasir is yet to feature for Matsatsantsa this season.
